OPTICAL PICTURE OF THE DAY

The Italian OPOD initiative, launched in October 2026, consists of periodically awarding an image of a photometeor and featuring it online with a technical-scientific explanation accessible to everyone. The column’s sole purpose is to promote photometeors.

The column is curated by Marco Meniero and by Marcella Botti, former referees of APOD Brasil.

Anyone interested in taking part can send their photo to the address:

Photos will be reviewed and the selected ones will be published regularly on the website and related social channels.

Images must be in .jpg format and have a preferred, but not mandatory, size of 2600 pixels on the long side. Please let us know if you send AI-edited photos.
