How high are rainbows?
Rainbows move across the sky following the Sun’s motion: the center of the arc is the antisolar point, so when the Sun is high in the sky the arc is low; conversely, when the Sun is low on the horizon, the arc is very high in the sky. You can see a photo taken from the same spot at 13:00 with the low arc and one taken at 17:00 with the high arc.

When the arc is low on the horizon it means the Sun is high. Photo taken at 13:00LT

When the arc is high it means the Sun is low. Photo taken at 17:00LT
